<p data-start="116" data-end="637">A patent is an exclusive legal right granted by a government authority to an inventor for a specific invention. This right provides the inventor with the authority to prevent others from making, using, selling, or distributing the patented invention without permission for a fixed period, typically <strong data-start="419" data-end="431">20 years from the date of filing. In exchange for these rights, the inventor must fully disclose the details of the invention to the public, contributing to the advancement of science, technology, and innovation.
<p data-start="639" data-end="1063">Patents can cover a wide range of inventions, including <strong data-start="695" data-end="786">new products, processes, machines, chemical compositions, or technological improvements. To qualify for a patent, an invention must meet three core requirements: <strong data-start="861" data-end="872">novelty (it must be new), <strong data-start="891" data-end="909">inventive step (it must not be obvious to others skilled in the field), and <strong data-start="971" data-end="999">industrial applicability (it must be useful and capable of being applied in practice).
